Program description
Amplifying Communication is the TalkiPlay Language Program for Early Childhood Professionals. It is an online, self-paced course delivered by a qualified speech pathologist that equips educators with evidence-informed professional learning. It is supported by interactive, hands-on resources to promote inclusive communication development for children aged 2-5 years.
The program builds educator capability to create language-rich environments with play-based resources by providing:
- reflective printed journal to support everyday preschool routines
- self-paced micro-learning sessions; and
- online live support. -
Expected outcomes:
- improved educator understanding of diverse communication and early communication development
- improved ability to implement evidence-informed, play-based strategies supporting verbal and non-verbal communication, listening and articulation
- improved connections between learning opportunities, routines, transitions, play and environment; and
- improved inclusive practices that strengthen children’s engagement, confidence, social skills, play and peer interaction.
Educators receive resource packs:
TalkiPlayer devices, smart interactive stickers, structured language games to support: expressive & receptive language, social participation; and peer interaction. Plus an printed course journal per educator.
How this is delivered:
The program is delivered through a blended model combining educator professional development with educator-led implementation in the preschool setting.
Educators complete self-paced micro-learning modules of approximately 20-30 minutes each, supported by video content presented by Kathryn Marrington, Certified Practising Speech Pathologist. Services also receive online live communication support, a printed reflective learning journal, downloadable resources and technical guidance.
Each service receives a resource kit containing TalkiPlayer devices, smart interactive stickers, structured language development games and learning resources. An iPad is required to operate the app-based component and is not supplied.
After training, educators embed TalkiPlay into everyday preschool programming, including small-group learning pods of approximately 3-5 children, whole-group experiences, transitions, outdoor learning, intentional teaching sessions and thematic play. Sessions are typically 15-30 minutes and may be delivered one to two times per week, with flexible shorter use across daily routines.
Ongoing implementation support includes 1:1 communication support sessions, setup assistance, how-to videos, downloadable guides and email support. After training, early childhood service staff deliver the program within their own preschool setting. The program is designed for Tier 1 universal whole-service use and Tier 2 targeted small-group support. It aligns primarily with communication skills and general knowledge, with secondary support for social competence.
What does it cost?
Two cost options: Both include online, self-paced professional learning course & resource pack
Small package: $1,409.09 excl. GST includes training for 2 participants, printed learning journals, printable resources, remote technical support and a small kit with 1 TalkiPlayer and communication resources.
Large package: $3,458.18 excl. GST includes training for 6 participants, printed learning journals x6, printable resources, remote technical support and an expanded communication resource kit and 4 TalkiPlayers.
